Dear Emily started as Lily’s personal project—a way to share her poems and monologues with her children. One day, she spontaneously sang one of her poems to a melody and discovered that her words became even more memorable when sung. Since then, she has continued writing original lyrics and shaping the musical direction of each song, with vocals and instrumentals brought to life through AI-assisted tools.

That also means each month may bring a different voice and musical style—from lyrical and jazz to hip-hop, Broadway, contemporary, or something simply playful. Dear Emily is always exploring. The first song in the series even features Lily’s younger daughter’s voice at the beginning.

And no, Lily isn’t trying to become the next pop star—hence the AI vocals! But after seeing how much her own children enjoyed the songs, she decided to share them with other families, too. Her hope is that when your children are all grown up, they’ll look back and fondly remember the excitement of receiving Dear Emily Mails.

Lily’s creative background spans filmmaking, theatre, and graphic design, with her current focus on dance photography. She grew up loving musicals, music videos, and short stories—all of which continue to influence her work today.

One of her children is a competitive dancer, so Lily also spends plenty of time as a busy dance mom. Her other child loves art and music but prefers exploring her creativity at her own pace, away from the spotlight.

Watching her children follow two very different creative paths has led Lily to believe that everyone grows and achieves in their own way. Maybe not today, and maybe not easily—but with time, practice, and the willingness to keep trying, what once felt impossible can become possible.
